Shadowboxing

Been attending weekly boxing classes the past three weeks. So far, I've learned the value of discipline and work ethic. Most of all, I'm fascinated by the confidence & energy involved in the sport. The amount of focus is paramount. I'm trying to find a way to apply these things to design and creativity.

It's funny how a non-artistic activity has repositioned my way of thinking a bit.

Work in Progress: XTS Services

XTS is a local computer consulting operation. This is actually a redesign of something the client came up with, which had the XTS in Times New Roman in a hollow circle, with the word 'trust' repeated around it.

I rendered several ideas, trying to come up with a simple geometric solution for security and privacy. I was working with hard angles, boxes, hexagons. The client still wanted 'trust' in the logo somehow. Then I realized... circle of trust. We've all heard that term before. I thought XTS in one circle was too plain.

It's pretty much done. Still not sure about the wording at the bottom (which causes a problem of readability when reduced.) Client was fine with this and the no-wording small version. I'm not satisfied with the wording, though.

New Work: Doug Boehm Website

This isn't really 'new' as it was completed and launched November 2006, but I wanted to mention it because it was a collaborative effort with the client, and has seen a bit of success.

Doug Boehm is an illustrator and needed a website that showcased his many published works. He knew exactly what he wanted, he just needed someone to put it all together, and consult on what was feasible on the web. So, I did the legwork, made sure it functioned properly.

As a result, Mr. Boehm received a lot of positive feedback on his website, and has been linked on quite a few art and illustration hubs.
